Lake said the province hasn’t taken an “ideological position” on people selling blood to private companies to help supplement the blood products supply chain. The utilitarian argument is that we already get plasma products from the U.S. where people do sell blood.
Pardon me, but is this about ideology — a system of principles which form the basis of economic policy — or is it about morality, which codifies values and conduct? Are we talking money and expedience or moral principles here?
I’d have thought this was more important for government to ponder as a matter of morality than framing it as simple economic ideology.
