A company that recently opened up a controversial pay-for-plasma collection clinic in Saskatoon is looking to bring its services to Nova Scotia.
Barzin Bahardoust, CEO of Canadian Plasma Resources, confirmed representatives from his company met with the Nova Scotia government about a year ago, and said the province has been supportive of the idea of the company setting up shop.
Bahardoust said the company plans to open a clinic in British Columbia next, but hopes to expand to Nova Scotia, as well as other provinces, within a few years.
While licences to open these clinics are provided at a federal level by Health Canada, provinces can make the decision not to allow compensation for donors – something Ontario and Quebec have already done.
